Guide to Mixing Colors with Your Spin Art Kit
With the paints provided in your kit (red, blue, yellow, black, and white), you have everything you need to create a full spectrum of colors! Here’s how to use the extra mixing bottle and combine colors to get new, vibrant shades.
Primary Color Mixing Basics
- Red + Blue = Purple
- Blue + Yellow = Green
- Yellow + Red = Orange
Tip: Start with small amounts in your mixing bottle to test the colors. Once you find your ideal shade, you can adjust the amounts as needed.
Creating Secondary Colors
- Purple: Start with 1 part red and 1 part blue.
- Green: Start with 1 part yellow and 1 part blue.
- Orange: Start with 1 part red and 1 part yellow.
Adjusting with Black & White
Use black and white to create lighter or darker shades, adding versatility to your colors.
- Lighter Shades (Tints): Add a drop of white to your mixed color for a lighter version. Example: Purple + White = Lavender.
- Darker Shades (Shades): Add a small amount of black for a darker color. Example: Green + Black = Forest Green.
Advanced Color Creations
- Teal: Mix 2 parts blue with 1 part yellow, then add a touch of white.
- Pink: Add a small amount of red to a larger amount of white.
- Turquoise: Combine 2 parts blue, 1 part yellow, and a small amount of white.
- Brown: Mix all three primary colors (red, yellow, and blue) in equal parts. Add more yellow or red for a warmer brown.
Experiment & Record
As you experiment with colors, record the ratios you use to recreate shades you love. This can be especially useful if you want consistency across multiple paintings!
